To mark National Hearing Day, the USMB Department of Preventive Medicine and the Gaco Crescendo association invite you to join them on Tuesday, March 6, at the EVE building from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for a concert on the Bourget-du-Lac campus, featuring an information booth on hearing health.
The results of recent studies on hearing (WHO, Ipsos Institute) indicate premature hearing loss among young people; 1 in 2 young people suffers from tinnitus, hence the theme of JNA2018: “Tinnitus and hyperacusis: scourges of the 21st century.” It is possible to counter these alarming predictions and preserve our enjoyment of sound by:
- controlling the volume of the portable music player, the home stereo system, and the car stereo
- reducing the duration of exposure
- featuringprotective, invisible, and highly effective caps
- moving away from the speakers
Protect your hearing by following the proper guidelines if you experience a rise in your hearing threshold, hear sounds in the absence of a sound source (tinnitus:1 in 4 French people, including 56% of those aged 16–34) or hearing sounds at a higher-than-normal volume (hyperacusis), by consulting your primary care physician as soon as possible.
