EDYTEM Study Days: Lake Territories and Landscapes, from Plain Lakes to Mountain Lakes

November 14, 2019, 8:30 a.m. - November 15, 2019, 6:30 p.m.

The Laboratory for Mountain Environments, Dynamics, and Territories (EDYTEM) at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc is organizing a two-day conference on November 14 and 15, 2019, focusing on lake territories and landscapes, from lowland lakes to mountain lakes. These two days will take place at the Mountain Center on the Bourget-du-Lac campus (Amphi and Room 110).

The aim of these study days is to bring together researchers who approach lakes from a social perspective. With a view to assessing the state of research in the humanities and social sciences (HSS) on lakes, the aim will be to combine disciplinary perspectives and case studies in order to analyze the relationships between societies and lakes, whether they are located in plains, foothills, or mountains. The overarching objective is to achieve a detailed and comprehensive analysis of the issues shaping lake territories and landscapes.

Over two days, including a half-day field trip (Lake Bourget), the format of these days is designed to maximize exchanges between participants, with oral presentations primarily intended as a support for scientific discussions. As such, the days will feature only around twenty presentations and will be organized around a single plenary session, with each presentation lasting 20 minutes.
