LAPP Wednesdays – Lecture and discussion: "The Life and Death of Stars"

December 13, 2023, 6:00 p.m. - December 13, 2023, 7:00 p.m.

Wednesdays in December 23

The Annecy Laboratory of Particle Physics (LAPP) is organizing, as part of its “LAPP Wednesdays” series, a lecture and discussion titled“The Life and Death of Stars,” which will take place on December 13, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the LAPP facilities on the Annecy campus. Before the lecture, visitors will be able to explorethe EUTOPIA Discovery Space starting at 5:00 PM for an opportunity to engage in informal discussions with the scientists.

About the conference-debate

Like all evolving structures in the universe, a star forms, lives, and dies, transforming—often in a very violent manner—into exotic objects such as white dwarfs, neutron stars, or black holes. We will describe these transformations and the different stages of a star’s life while illustrating some related concepts in physics.
The lecture will be presented by Damir Buskulic, a faculty member and researcher at LAPP and USMB.

About LAPP Wednesdays

In 2023–2024, to mark the Year of Physics, LAPP is launching a new series of free events: LAPP Wednesdays. One Wednesday a month, LAPP staff invite you to explore a different aspect of research during a free event open to everyone. The program will feature lectures, tours, discussions, and workshops.
