The Annecy Laboratory of Particle Physics (LAPP) is organizing a conference entitled "May the force be with bosons!" as part of its LAPP Wednesdays series. The conference will take place on January 17, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the LAPP premises on the Annecy campus. Before the conference, it will be possible to visit the laboratory from 5 p.m. for exclusive discussions with the scientists.
About the conference-debate
How do bosons weave together the forces that surround us?
When we look at matter on a subatomic scale, we discover a whole zoology of particles, which have been studied since the 20th century by physicists around the world. Among them are bosons, the mediators of forces. But what exactly is a force? What part do bosons play in this symphony? What are their properties? Why is it so important to study them? We will answer all these questions together. A lecture by Narei Lorenzo Martinez, physicist at LAPP.
About LAPP Wednesdays
In 2023-2024, to mark the Year of Physics, LAPP is launching a new series of free events: LAPP Wednesdays. One Wednesday per month, LAPP staff invite you to discover a different aspect of research at a free event open to all. The program will include lectures, tours, discussions, and workshops.
