About the conference

For thousands of years, many human civilizations have worshipped the Sun. And rightly so, for this celestial body is of extraordinary size and power, far beyond anything we experience in our daily lives. Yet the Sun is present everywhere in our daily lives. It is the source of all life on Earth; it is the source of the winds, the oceans, and our fossil fuel resources. It is also a very ordinary star in our galaxy: a young old man, 4.5 billion years old, living alongside other suns far more turbulent and magnificent than itself.
