LAPP and LAPTH Wednesdays 5/26/27

As part of the LAPP and LAPTh Wednesdays series, the Annecy Laboratory of Particle Physics (LAPP) and the Annecy-le-Vieux Laboratory of Theoretical Physics (LAPTh) are organizing a lecture titled “Everything Is Relative, But It’s Weird,” which will take place on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the LAPP facilities on the Annecy campus.

This lecture will be presented by Damir Buskulic, a faculty member and researcher at LAPP. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the laboratory before the lecture, starting at 5:00 p.m., for an exclusive chance to speak with the scientists.

About visits

Before the conference, starting at 5:00 p.m., interested attendees will be able to visitthe EUTOPIA Discovery Space and talk with scientists from LAPP and LAPTh.

About the conference

Since 1905 and the advent of special relativity as described by Albert Einstein, its experimental implications have astonished generations. We will explore a universe where, depending on one’s point of view, objects shrink, time slows down for some but not for others, and what is simultaneous for some is not for others. What would happen if the speed of light were 130 km/h? We’ll see that these questions lead to some strange paradoxes… at first glance. But actually, do any of these things really have any consequences in our everyday lives?

About LAPP and LAPTh Wednesdays

Since 2024, LAPP and LAPTh have been hosting free monthly events: LAPP and LAPTh Wednesdays.

One Wednesday per month, scientists from LAPP and LAPTh invite you to discover a different facet of research during a free event open to all. Lectures, tours, discussions, workshops... Several formats accessible to all audiences will be offered throughout the year.
