Wednesdays at LAPP and LAPTH 2025-01-22 750x300

As part of the LAPP and LAPTh Wednesdays series, the Annecy Laboratory of Particle Physics (LAPP) and the Annecy-le-Vieux Laboratory of Theoretical Physics (LAPTh) are organizing a lecture titled “Quantum Mechanics in the Information Age,” which will take place on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the LAPP facilities on the Annecy campus. This lecture will be presented by Gilles Parez, a faculty member at LAPTh . Visitors will be able to tour the laboratory before the lecture, starting at 5:00 p.m., for an opportunity to engage with the scientists.

About the conference

Since its inception in the 20th century, quantum mechanics has profoundly changed our understanding of the laws of nature, revealing phenomena such as entanglement and quantum superposition. In the information age, these concepts pave the way for innovative applications, particularly in quantum computing, communication, and cryptography. This lecture, intended for a broad audience, explores the fundamentals of quantum mechanics, its role in emerging technologies, and highlights the latest advances in scientific research, which continues to push the boundaries of our knowledge.

About LAPP and LAPTh Wednesdays

In 2024-2025, following the success of previous events, LAPP is organizing free monthly events: LAPP and LAPTh Wednesdays.

One Wednesday per month, scientists at LAPP invite you to discover a different aspect of research during a free event that is open to all. Lectures, tours, discussions, workshops... A range of formats accessible to all audiences will be offered throughout the year.
