As part of LAPP Wednesdays and Science Day, the Annecy Laboratory of Particle Physics (LAPP) is organizing a conference entitled "The Mysteries of Neutrinos," which will take place on October 9, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the LAPP premises on the Annecy campus. This conference will be presented by Laura Zambelli, a CNRS researcher at LAPP. Before the conference, it will be possible to visit the laboratory from 5 p.m. for exclusive discussions with the scientists.
About the conference-debate
The neutrino is the lightest particle of matter and also the most abundant in the universe! Nearly 70 years after their discovery, physicists still have much to learn about neutrinos. That's because they hide their game : they interact very little with matter and have the special property of being able to change their identity as they propagate.
So who are they? What do we still have to learn about neutrinos? Why is this important? Finally, how do physicists study such a discreet particle? These are the questions we will address in this lecture!
About LAPP Wednesdays
In 2024-2025, following the success of previous events, LAPP is organizing free monthly events: LAPP Wednesdays.
One Wednesday per month, scientists at LAPP invite you to discover a different aspect of research during a free event that is open to all. Lectures, tours, discussions, workshops... A range of formats accessible to all audiences will be offered throughout the year.
