About the lunch seminar

In the Alps and Pyrenees, as traditional models of tourism development lose steam, stakeholders are working to diversify the tourism offering. Some resorts have positioned themselves around trail running in an effort to diversify their offerings and extend their tourist season. This is particularly true of Saint-Pierre de Chartreuse and the Pays d’Allevard, which have decided to establish a trail running hub in their respective regions.

This presentation will highlight the roles played by various stakeholders in the process of diversifying tourism around outdoor sports. The aim is to analyze how local stakeholders use sports, adapt them to their own needs, and transform them according to their interests—particularly to turn them into a tourism resource. This analysis helps us understand how sports are invoked, or even exploited, by stakeholders to reshape the region’s tourism identity.
