The Languages, Literatures, Societies, Transborder and International Studies Laboratory (LLSETI) is hosting, on Thursday, September 27, 2018, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the seminar “Landscapes – The Landscape: Aesthetic Judgment and Democratic Politics” on the Jacob-Bellecombette campus, Building 10, Room 10011.

about the seminar

The LLSETI “Landscapes” Seminar (Research Area 1: “Heritage, Environments, Mediations,” “Environmental Humanities” Team) continues the interdisciplinary dialogue on definitions, representations, and methodologies applied to the concept of landscape, featuring a presentation by philosopher Pascal Bouvier, “Landscape: Aesthetic Judgment and Democratic Politics”: Landscape cannot be defined in a single, unambiguous way. Between geography, aesthetics, anthropology, and many other disciplines, there is no true methodological unity but rather a multitude of perspectives. Should this observation be seen as a weakness, or should it, on the contrary, be made the foundation of a political and democratic strength?
