Thesis summary
Neologism and term formation in terminology: application to the Chinese language
The international standard ISO 704 on the principles and methods of terminology work specifies that a term is "a representation of a concept by linguistic or non-linguistic means" and "acts as a synthesis of the definition."
Term formation, and more specifically the creation of new terms, can be such that it expresses what the term designates. Our work will focus more specifically on terminology in Chinese and on the relationship between term formation and the definition of concepts, as Chinese has the particularity of being particularly well suited to technical fields through the association of these characters.
This work will be carried out within the framework of ISO standards and in an ontological modeling of the conceptual system.
