Description

another world

The Théâtre de l’Incrédule and the musical ensemble “La rêveuse” are pleased to present the play “L’Autre monde ou les états et empires de la lune.” The performance will take place in Chambéry at the Théâtre Charles Dullin and runs for 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Fifteen years of wonder and renewed enchantment, based on the visionary and poetic text by Savinien de Cyrano de Bergerac. A text of extraordinary musicality, (…). A must-see!

Figaroscope, October 9, 2019

This lunar epic, adapted from Savinien de Cyrano de Bergerac’s novel, is the first French science fiction novel, at the cutting edge of the scientific theories of its time. It is also a philosophical novel: much like Voltaire’s *Micromégas* in the following century, the world of the Moon allows Cyrano to launch a scathing critique of the political, religious, and moral dogmas of his time and our own. Finally, it is quite simply a thrilling and funny adventure novel, which moves readers with its constant blend of irony and melancholy.

The show takes the simple form of a fairy tale. A library step stool, a chair, and a tall desk are used in turn by the narrative to become a flying machine, a fire-breathing dragon, a prison, a fireplace, or even a puppet theater.

We dream, and we’re swept away. And the two musicians accompanying the show play beautifully.

As part of the "Theatrical Perspectives" series

Established in October 2000 as part of a cultural partnership between the University of Savoie and the Espace Malraux Scène nationale, this initiative aims to introduce students to theater by presenting them with high-quality performances specially curated for them. Accompanied by introductory lectures and discussions with the artists, these “enriched” performances allow students to reflect on theatrical texts from the perspective of their specific purpose: the stage.

The performance will be preceded by an introductory lecture by Claude Bourqui, an expert on 17th-century theater, at the Théâtre Charles-Dullin (free admission), on the same day at 6:30 p.m.
