As part of the 2022 edition of the International Mountain Professions Festival (FIMM), the University of Savoie Mont Blanc is hosting a round table discussion on Thursday, November 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on the following topic: "Supporting transitions in mountain regions through training and action research."
Round Table: "Supporting transitions in mountain regions through training and action research"
Tourism is more than ever at a critical point in its cultural, economic, and territorial trajectory. The health, climate, energy, and social crises are prompting us to reexamine both practices and policies. The fragilities and impacts of tourism raise increasingly pressing societal dilemmas: globalization or relocation? acceleration or deceleration?
Thinking about "the future" involves, in particular, fundamental work on mobility, living, lifestyle, consumption, and working in a more sustainable way. In this context, the transition is not simply a matter of adaptation: it is a profound transformation that mountain regions are currently facing. The University of Savoie Mont Blanc and its academic partners are strongly committed to these regions through:
- A contribution of knowledge derived from multidisciplinary and collaborative action research that informs and illuminates the thinking and decision-making of policymakers and stakeholders;
- In-depth work on training content and support for recruiters to better align the expectations of future professionals with the needs of a rapidly changing sector.
The round table will be moderated by Arnaud Grandjacques, director of the Pôle Tourisme Montagne Inventive (PTMI) at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (UNS). The speakers will be:
- Maëlle Bourg, Grand [La]bo Project Manager at PTMI
- Marithé Crozet, Dynamont project manager at PTMI
- Dominique Kréziak, lecturer and researcher at the Institute for Research in Management and Economics (IREGE), IAE Savoie Mont Blanc
- Béatrice Galey, Director of the International Center for Tourism, Hospitality, Management, and Events (CITHEME)
