Every Wednesday evening, a digital movie!

On Wednesday, November 28, at 7:30 p.m., Univerciné presents the film “The House That Jack Built.”

Directed by Lars Von Trier
Starring Matt Dillon, Bruno Ganz, Uma Thurman
Genre: Drama, Thriller
Country: Denmark
Runtime: 2 hours 35 minutes

Synopsis:
United States, 1970s. We follow the brilliant Jack through five incidents and discover the murders that will define his career as a serial killer. The story is told from Jack’s perspective. He considers each murder a work of art in itself. As the inevitable police intervention draws ever closer (which exasperates Jack and puts him under pressure), he decides—against all logic—to take increasingly greater risks. Throughout the film, we hear Jack’s descriptions of his personal situation, his problems, and his thoughts through his conversation with a stranger, Verge. A grotesque mix of sophistry, almost childish self-pity, and detailed explanations of Jack’s dangerous and difficult maneuvers.

UNIVERCINÉ, THE USMB CINEMA

The Univerciné association was founded in 1996 with the aim of promoting arthouse cinema and research. Since then, the Univerciné team has strived to fulfill this mission by offering the Chambéry public films, exclusively in their original version with subtitles, in a variety of genres (drama, comedy, cinema classics, fantasy, documentaries, etc.). In addition to its regular programming, Univerciné offers themed evenings and screenings followed by discussions with filmmakers and/or speakers. The University of Savoie Mont Blanc is the only university in France to have a cinema with commercial status, allowing it to show all films released nationally.
