As part ofthe scientific and cultural exhibition *Toward a Sporting Future*, a discussion on the theme “A History of Winter Sports: Women’s Role in Mountain Snow Sports” will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. at La Turbine Sciences in Annecy. The discussion will feature Fabienne Gillonnier, a lecturer and researcher at the LLSETI laboratory at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc, and Nathalia Bazoge, a researcher at the SENS laboratory at the University of Grenoble Alpes.
This discussion will examine two different contexts surrounding the emergence of winter sports. The first presentation focuses on the representation of women in competitive alpine skiing during the interwar period, while the second presentation sheds light on the growing number of women entering the ski instruction profession starting in the 1950s.
