About the symposium

The aim of the symposium is to measure the progress made or still to be made in affirming or fully realizing the identity and dignity of people with disabilities. The aim is to analyze the tools, mechanisms, policies and actions that enable everyone to take their place in society with the same expectations as an able-bodied person, and to look at how society as a whole receives and perceives this inclusive evolution. Aside from the question of how to define disability, there is also the question of how to represent it: as we have seen once again with the Lambert affair, and in particular with the recommendation of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

How can we treat people who are a priori in different situations? How do we assess the dignity of the disabled person? How do they see themselves, and what are the consequences? To answer these questions, we will draw on a wide range of knowledge: law, sociology, psychology, the views of researchers, practitioners, association leaders...
