International and interdisciplinary colloquium - Celtic myths and folklore in the English-speaking world [DELAYED]

November 5, 2020 08:00 - november 6, 2020 8:00 PM

Due to the current health situation, the event will be postponed to a later date not yet defined.

On Thursday November 5 and Friday November 6, 2020, the international and interdisciplinary symposium "Celtic Myths and Folklore in the English-speaking World" will be held on the Jacob-Bellcombette campus ofUniversité Savoie Mont blanc (USMB).

This symposium, organized by the USMB, with its Laboratoire Langages, Littératures, Sociétés, Études Transfrontalières et Internationales (LLSETI), and theUniversity of Toulon, brings together a large number of researchers specializing in the Celts and the Celtic world. While the Celts are very much in vogue today, it's fair to ask what this name actually refers to: what is really "Celtic"? To answer this question, the researchers present will examine the relationship between modern "Celtic" traditions (folklore, music, visual arts, tales and legends, etc.) and ancient Celtic myths, as found in the writings of medieval authors.

Half a day will be devoted to presenting the "An Domhan" project, developed by the academics Communication Hypermédia (Gaëtan Le Coarer, Ghislaine Chabert and Marc Veyrat) and LLCER Anglais (Noémie Beck) departments at USMB.

Places are limited. Thursday is fully booked.

Reservations by e-mail to Noémie Beck (noemie.beck@univ-smb.fr).
