ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

On October 16, 1323, Count Amédée V, then aged 70, died in Avignon, at the end of a 38-year principate which, along with that of Amédée VIII, was one of the longest among the princes of the House of Savoy. Seven hundred years after the Count's death, this colloquium, based on work and research currently in progress, aims to provide an overview of what was at stake during this long principate in terms of symbolic and political power.
