CARRTEL conference "From the Little Ice Age to the age of glacial lakes".

May 25, 2023 10:30 am

On Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 10:30 a.m., the CARRTEL laboratory (Centre Alpin de Recherche sur les Réseaux Trophiques des Ecosystèmes Limniques) will host a conference entitled "From the Little Ice Age to the Age of Glacial Lakes". The conference will be attended by Jean-Baptiste Bosson and Florent Arthaud, and will be broadcast live on CARRTEL's Youtube channel.

About the conference

This presentation will explore the widespread glacial retreat on Earth and the associated emergence of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Particular emphasis will be placed on freshwater ecosystems (mainly lakes and secondarily wetlands and rivers) that form as a result of glacial retreat. This presentation will be based in particular on the work carried out in recent years as part of the Ice&Life project and the monitoring carried out by the Sentinel Lakes network. The conference will also provide an opportunity to present the Ice&Life project, which uses scientific data to increase the protection of glaciers and post-glacial ecosystems on Earth.

About the speakers
