In the LAPP Wednesdays series, the next event will exceptionally take place on a Tuesday, to coincide with Physics Night! This event will be held at the Laboratoire d'Annecy de Physique des Particules (LAPP ) in Annecy on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 5:30 pm to 9 pm, and will focus on "Physics and Sport".

The program

To talk about Physics and Sport, LAPP invites LIBM for a conference on the encounter between biology and physics, and proposes traditional exchanges around EUTOPIA.

  • 5:30 pm - 7 pm: Lecture: "Sports performance: a beautiful encounter between biology and physics", by Pierre Samozino and Baptiste Morel-Prieur, lecturers at the Interuniversity Laboratory of Motor Biology (LIBM).
  • 7pm-8pm: A friendly chat aboutEUTOPIA
  • 8pm-9pm: Interactive sequence linked to other participating cities, with quizzes, reports and competition winners.

About Physics Night

The " Night of Physics " is a public event organized by the Société Française de Physique, with the support of the CNRS, the CEA, the Société Française d'Optique and the Société Chimique de France. It follows the Nuit de la Lumière in 2015, the Nuit des ondes gravitationnelles in 2017 and the Nuit de l'Antimatière in 2019, and the Nuit des Temps in 2021 and 2022.

As part of the "Year of Physics" and in view of the organization of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in France, the French Physical Society, CNRS and CEA are once again launching this operation consisting of mobilizing schoolchildren through competitions on the theme of physics and sport, as well as a grand multi-site festive evening. The event will be held on April 2, 2024 in Annecy, Belfort, Bordeaux, Bourges, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Dunkirk, Grenoble, Limoges, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, Paris, Rennes, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Toulon and Orleans.

About LAPP Wednesdays

In 2023-2024, to mark the Year of Physics, LAPP is launching a new series of free events: LAPP Wednesdays. One Wednesday a month, LAPP staff invite you to discover a facet of research at a free event open to all. Lectures, tours, discussions and workshops are all on the program.
