The seminar will take place on February 3, 2020 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. in room PM52 of the Pôle Montagne (building 3) on the Bourget-du-Lac campus.

About the lunch seminar

In the Alps and Pyrenees, at a time when Fordist models of tourism development are running out of steam, players are striving to diversify their tourism offering. Some resorts have positioned themselves around trail running as a way of diversifying their offering and extending their tourist season. This is particularly true of Saint-Pierre de Chartreuse and Pays d'Allevard, which have decided to set up a trail station on their respective territories.

This presentation will focus on the interplay of actors involved in the process of diversifying tourism around nature sports. The aim is to analyze the way in which local players use sport, appropriate it and transform it to suit their interests, in particular to turn it into a tourism resource. This analysis will enable us to understand how sport is used, and even instrumentalized, by stakeholders to modify the region's tourism identity.
