The lecture “The Limits of the Human Machine: The Contribution of Biomechanics, ” presented by Pierre Samozino, associate professor at the Interuniversity Laboratory of Motor Biology(LIBM), Faculty of Science and Mountain Studies, will take place on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at La Turbine (entrance via the La Turbine cinema) in Cran-Gevrier.
It will also take place on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. in Chambéry.
The conferences will take place subject to the health conditions related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic and in compliance with the safety guidelines in force at the venue hosting the event.
About the conference
What makes Usain Bolt run so fast? Why can't humans jump very high compared to other animals? How can training be optimized to improve performance? With the Olympic Games in Paris just around the corner, athletic performance has never been more of a focus in France, particularly understanding what limits it. These performances are the result of interactions between the laws of physics that affect us all and the physiological principles that govern how our bodies work. Biomechanics allows us to better understand the good and bad relationships between these two constraints applied to each of our movements. Altius, Citius, Fortius: what limits human performance? Convergence between physics and physiology...
