ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The conference invites papers focusing on Italian literary works published from the second half of the 20th century to the present day, which place homosexuality at the center of the narrative while challenging traditional notions of masculinity. The study of homosexual literature is necessary today for several reasons. First, it would allow for a better understanding of gay culture and identity in Italy and help highlight texts that have been marginalized within the Italian literary canon. Second, because—in accordance with the concept of “queer epistemicides”—all LGBTQ+ knowledge, whether theoretical or practical, originating from other parts of the world, is now indispensable to the construction of an inclusive queer knowledge capable of enriching and making new contributions to the field of English- and French-language queer studies. The conference will also be streamed live.
