World AIDS Day at USMB

November 29, 2018, 12:00 a.m.

In observance of World AIDS Day, the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) invites you to join us on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at all three USMB campuses.

On the Jacob-Bellecombette campus

To mark the 30th anniversary of this global day, UNAIDS chose “Know Your Status” as the theme for 2018, given that one in four people living with HIV are unaware of their HIV status. Knowing one’s status is the cornerstone of international strategies aimed at ending the epidemic by 2030.

A selfie booth will be available to USMB students from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Building 20, in the multi-service area next to the GUIDE: take a photo to show your commitment to fighting the disease. #know your status!
Male and female condoms will be available on site, along with information on free testing locations where you can find out your HIV status.

On the Bourget-du-Lac campus

In partnership with the LGBT+ organization Savoie+, an awareness-raising session and information on UNAIDS’ 2030 goals, as well as the various strategies available to achieve them, will be presented from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Building 6 (Student Life Center). On the agenda: informational posters, flyers, a fun activity organized by the LGBT+ Association involving blindfolded and timed condom application, and a quiz on discrimination, male condoms, and female condoms.

On the Annecy campus

The Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc will have a booth at the University Dining Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. On the agenda: the “Bulle d’amour” exhibition (on display starting November 27), prevention messages, informational materials, flyers, and the distribution of male and female condoms.

Around the event

The Annecy Genevois Hospital Center, a partner of the USMB, invites you to participate in the Sid’Annecy Race, taking place on December 1, 2018. Whether you run alone or as a pair, come show your support for the fight against HIV/AIDS. [Registration]

Free STI testing will be offered to students by the CeGIDD at Annecy Hospital on Tuesday, December 4 and 11, 2018. Sign up on the day of the event at the GUIDE, then go to the preventive medicine office on the Annecy campus with your health record.
