ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

The symposium features papers on Italian literary texts published from the second half of the 20th century to the present day, placing homosexuality at the center of the narrative while highlighting the questioning of norms of masculinity. The study of homosexual literature is necessary today, for several reasons. Firstly, it would enable us to better understand gay culture and identity in Italy, and to valorize marginalized texts within the Italian literary canon. Secondly, because - in line with the concept of "queer epistemicides" - all LGBTQ+ knowledge, theoretical or practical, from other parts of the world, is today indispensable to the construction of an inclusive queer knowledge, capable of enriching and bringing new contributions to the field of English- and French-speaking queer studies. The conference will also be broadcast live.
