International symposium Luigi Alamanni: between Italy and France

october 21, 2021 3:15 pm - october 22, 2021 5:00 PM

Organized by Silvia D'Amico (teacher-researcher at the LLSETI laboratory atuniversité Savoie Mont Blanc), Franco Tomasi (Università degli Studi di Padova) and Paola Cifarelli (Università degli Studi di Torino), the international colloquium "Luigi Alamanni: entre l'Italie et la France" will take place on October 21 and 22, 2021 at the USMB Presidency.

More than twenty speakers will discuss the life and work of Luigi Alamanni, a leading figure in the Italian Renaissance from the 1520s to the 1550s.

Given the complexity of his human and intellectual biography, as well as his prolific literary output (lyric poetry, didactic poems, drama, short stories and chivalric poetry), he represents an exemplary case for understanding the forms of Renaissance Italian poetry.

Having lived a significant phase of his life at the court of the Valois, his literary practice intersected with the cultural policy of Francis I, while maintaining both poetic and political links with the Italian world, particularly Florence.

This symposium is the first stage in a project to produce a new monograph on the author, with a choral dimension, so to speak.
