Festival "Plus d'égalité" - "Les femmes qui rient" exhibition

May 7th 2019 00:00 - May 19, 2019 00:00

From March 5 to May 18, the "Plus d'égalité" (More Equality) Festival will take place on theUniversité Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) campuses, and in partner venues. Taking the time to ask questions, accepting confrontation, imagining solutions, but above all thinking together and debating together around questions of equality, that's the aim of the different events of this festival. The USMB offers conferences, round-table discussions and encounters with artists and specialists, who will question our representations of relations between women and men.

Wednesday May 7 to Sunday May 19, 2019, at the Musée des Beaux- Arts de Chambéry, will be held theexhibition "Les femmes qui rient" by Mylène Besson.

A 14-metre-long drawing of 30 naked, laughing women... and a book that tells the story of this drawing: defending the cause of women. With this book and this drawing, Mylène Besson takes up a constantly topical subject: the need to relentlessly produce other images of the female body against those that reduce it, and with it, women themselves. This drama of creation struck Annie Ernaux, whose work reflects an attention to the never self-evident process of becoming a woman. She immediately perceived its singularity, both aesthetic and political, in her unpublished text Les Médusantes: "The mystery of this laughter is that it destroys the 'feminine mystery'. It ruins the images that universally haunt the unconscious of both sexes...".
